According to the etymology of the word, “decisions” are at the heart of crisis. Crisis is also a “turning point” after which follows one of two things: death or recovery. Crises (medical, social, political, personal, environmental…) are those fascinatingly terrifying moments, at the edge of an abyss. What role can theatre play when decisions must be made at such crossroads?

Is theatre actually a tool for crisis, creating knife edge experiences, throwing us into the deep end? Or is theatre the panacea, the cure to “rehearse us out” of the worst? Will theatre be able to put us collectively towards a path of recovery? Join political scientist and theatre maker Lora Krasteva (of Global Voices Theatre) in conversation with poet, playwright and theatre director Koleka Putuma, playwright, theatre director and activist Sînziana Cojocărescu, and playwright, author and poet Samah Sabawi about the role of theatre in times of crisis.
